The Resuscitation Council recommends that AED’s be made available; IF the time from call out of an ambulance to delivery of a shock cannot be achieved within 5 minutes (most of UK).

  • Sudden Cardiac Arrest is the leading cause of death in Europe, affecting about 700,000 individuals each year. Defibrillation is the only effective treatment for cardiac arrest caused by VF or VT.
  • Chances of successful defibrillation decline at a rate of 7 – 10 % with each minute of delay.
